Halloween at the Homestead...

Are y'all over Halloween yet?? I am, but thought I ought to post what little Halloween decorating I did.
Here is the front walkway. It is really more Fall than Halloween. Note the poor bunny's ear is missing. Maybe it'll turn up and we'll glue it back on.

Spooky scary spider wreath. A leftover from Jackson's birthday party-which I'll post about soon. I thought it was appropriate for Halloween, so up it stays.

Trick or treat?? I'll take a treat, thank you. Up for grabs...M&M's, Oreo's, Teddy Grams and peanut butter Ritz, and some yummy chocolate treats, Kit Kat's, Reese's, Milky Way. You know, the good stuff!!

My little Halloween corner in the kitchen. Jenny made all the handmades here for our Falloween Swap. I have wanted Mr. Bones since last year and got him this year. He is a cutie!!

On to the dining room. We decorated a Falloween tree with shutter ornies, Halloween tags, and a super cute pompom garland from Jenny.

The other side...The "side board" is the bottom piece of my hutch that used to live in the kitchen, then made its way into the foyer and finally, in here. The foyer is to the right. You can see my plant on the old milkcan in front of a foyer window.

The china cabinet sports some Halloweenies, too. I need to paint the back of the cabinet, but what color??

Close-up of the sideboard. BOO blocks came from Emilie for our Halloween swap from last year, as did the rag garland on my china cabinet. The candy corn mouse and the ornie are from Jenny. I think she still has the mouse in her etsy shoppe, along with another Mr. Bones.

The centerpiece on the table. You might notice this table used to be in the kitchen. We've rearranged a bit. I show it all to y'all soon.
Hope y'all have a Happy Hump Day!!

Fall Swap: Given...

The eversofabulous Lori, hosted her second annual Fall swap this year and I got Yvonne for a partner. I already shared with y'all what Yvonne sent me, so here is what I sent her...a fabric pumpkin made by your's truly, a cute carved pumpkin, autumn leaves sprinkles{Yvonne's nickname, if you will, is cakegirl, so I thought sprinkles were fitting}, a Y that I decoupaged and added a pretty acorn to, a mulled cider votive candle with a tart tin and mini pumpkin pods.
I also made this burlap pennant banner. I guess somebody could've ironed it, huh??

Here is a closer look. I love the mulled cider candles from Wal-Mart. Y'all should really try them if you haven't already. They are great!! This is coming from a recovering candle snob. ;)

Another shot of the Y. I really love the paper I did this in!! I also sent Yvonne some vintage trim as she loves to craft with vintage items and a baking booklet. I hope she loves it all!!

Fall Family Fun at the Pumpkin Patch...

I so love this time of year...when the air gets a nip in it, when apple cider shows up on the grocery store shelves, and when we go out in search for the perfect pumpkin{or pumpkins}.

I think we have gone to the same pumpkin patch every year but last year. The sun was quite bright, and Jackson is quite dramatic, so he is measuring just about 4 feet tall.

Lilly isn't too far behind and 3 and a half feet. Just cause I know y'all care...the whole outfit from head to toe{including headband and boots} cost just $5.25.

Methinks Fisher liked it.

I thought this was interesting...horses made from corn stalks.

Picking the perfect pumpkin...I think we gotta keep{her}!!

Jackson got just the right one.

Gotta have a family photo...nevermind we aren't all looking at the camera{cough, cough, Fisher...}

I tried so hard to get one of all three of the kids and this was the best.

I sat on the ground just to get this shot. Thanks, Momma, for the shoes!!
That's all, Folks!!

Autumn in the Living Room...and new curtains

It is officially "Pumpkin Thyme", y'all!! Its been a busy few weeks, with the beginning of our homeschool year and all the excitement Fall brings with her. This past Thursday and Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch and apple farm, which I will post about soon. The curtains have been finished for a few weeks now and I LOVE them!! I was waiting to post to get my mantle the way I wanted it and I think I am pleased, finally.

I have some beafier, wooden rods that I want to use{purchased from Goodwill in the spring}, but need brackets, so until I feel like giving up thrifting money for wood brackets, I decided to use the iron rods I already had. Maybe I will find some wood ones thrifting?? I cannot tell y'all how much cozier and homier our home feels with these curtains. I am so happy with how they turned out. Y'all remember my inspiration?? Mine are definitely different, as I tailored the fabrics to my taste, but Jerusalem's are beautiful, too.

Here is the mantle in all her{it should be a "her", right??} autumn finery. I used my huge sign my friend painted for me on a cabinet door and layered on texture with a chippy baluster that I propped a pumpkin on, a galvanized pail with faux bittersweet and leaves, and a Southern Living at Home egg basket with faux white pumpkins.

The lamp I found at a local thrift shop. I can't get enough lamps, it seems. For $3-5 a pop, its an inexpensive way to get a new look. I found a wire lampshade with tattered coverings cheap at a yard sale, ripped the fabric off and just rigged part of a table cloth for a new shade. Then I tied on an acorn candle ring on with chocolate crocheted lace. I just love chocolate...the candy and the color.
Okay, so what do y'all think?? Are your homes ready for Autumn yet??
